If you’re a dedicated Google Music user and a PC person to boot, you owe it to yourself to try this one out. First up is the imaginatively titled Google Play Music Desktop Player for Windows (hat tip to SlashGear).While it sticks to the basics, it does have one useful feature you can’t find on the web. There’s no plans for a MacOS version at the moment, since Mr. Other features include a mini player window, Last.FM scrobbling, song progress in the taskbar and keyboard music controls (which unfortunately didn’t work with my Microsoft keyboard). This feature alone makes the stand-along program more useful than the website alone – why doesn’t the Google Music Uploader program do this?

The app even integrates with Windows 7’s multi-function taskbar, hiding play controls in the preview window for quickly accessing the pause, forward and back buttons. It’s surprisingly simple and effective – all of the functions from the web are available, including the “now playing” area at the bottom of the window. It is almost identical to the browser-based version of the player, with a few additions like lyrics, media keys and taskbar media controls.The program ties in with the Google Music website, essentially creating a shell for a minimal browser. If you’re happy with the YouTube Music web UI and just want to listen to your songs without a web browser, this application is the perfect alternative. Minimalistic desktop client for YouTube Music Just hover over the taskbar icon to bring up the controls to play/pause, change tracks and like or dislike the song. Moreover, some simple media controls, along with like and dislike buttons, are embedded into the taskbar preview. You can play, pause, and switch tracks using just your keyboard, and the app can even display desktop notifications on track changes. One big advantage this application has over the web service is the ability to use media keys. Support for media keys and taskbar controls The lyrics window can be moved around, and it isn’t minimized with the application. One difference is that you can view any song’s lyrics by clicking the button on the right side of the title bar. The UI is essentially identical to that of the web service, as the app is just an Electron wrapper for the website. Listen to YouTube Music from your desktopĪssuming your country is among those where YouTube Music is available, and you have used the service before, this desktop application will not seem too different. Theres also a player called Enjoy Music Player but it doesnt look like you can make playlist from Google Drive. The Music Player for Google Drive I could not get it to auto-play the next song in a playlist without me having to click play all the time. It is a simple wrapper around the web UI, so nothing too spectacular, but it does the job. With only a few seconds between songs sometimes. Go directly to the site or see in the G Suite Marketplace. Finally I found a browser-based music player and which supports the creation of playlists.

YouTube Music Desktop App is an Electron-based application that provides users with an alternative, enabling them to access the service directly from a desktop app. After the 'Music Player for Google Drive' stopped working, I spent a lot of time looking for a player that can play music from google drive.
